El Calafate
February 2-3, 2003

El Calafate is a town in Patagonia that sprung up for the sole purpose of serving the swarms of tourists that come to see the Perito Moreno glacier and other glaciers in the area. Basically, you get on a tour bus, then see the glacier from a number of angles, including boat in my case, and then leave.

Tourist break on the way to the glacier. You can see here how Patagonia on the eastern side of the Andes is mostly desert.
